Lanka Stores, the cornerstone of our heritage, revolutionized the local market by offering high-quality products at fair prices. Our partnership with Leoris & Sons in 1979 marked the beginning of an era of triumph, navigating through the challenges of time, including the testing period of 1983’s ethnic riots.

In 1986, amidst adversity, the Gunganathan family’s unwavering optimism led to the inception of Vijeya Enterprise. A symbol of resilience and commitment to Sri Lanka’s prosperity, we sourced premium quality food items like rice, potatoes, onions, and lentils, empowering local farmers and supplementing with imports only when necessary. Additionally the company started the first exports under Vijeya Enterprises of Sri Lankan Rice to the expat living countries to cater their ethnic demands.

The late 90s were a period of significant growth and paved the way for the birth of Maharaja Food Products within the premises of our now head office in Wellawatte marked a new chapter. Our hand-roasted rice flour became a sought-after product, leading to the expansion of our manufacturing capabilities in Wattala and later in Mabola to meet the surging demand.
